About

Happy Vale, located in the heart of the Mourne Mountains, has two luxury cottages Bearnagh and Meelbeg separated by a courtyard. A walking equipment/bike store/heated drying room is provided. The cottages have been designed to suit families, walking groups, mountain bikers and other outdoor enthusiasts who want a warm cosy base with mountain walking from the door.

Situated on a hill farm close to Happy Valley in the Mourne Mountains. Happy Vale with a mountain stream running past is a smaller version of Happy Valley.

Bearnagh Cottage has a stunning spacious live in kitchen/sun room with granite fireplace and wood burning stove Outside, a massive picnic table is perfect for groups eating outdoors while enjoying the sound of the stream babbling past. A car port is provided.

Three bedrooms sleeping up to seven guests:
• Bedroom one – sleeps two, king size bed with en suite bathroom, TV.
• Bedroom two – sleeps three, double bed and a single bed, TV.
• Bedroom three – sleeps two, bunk beds.

Luxury bathroom with separate shower and bath.

Happy Vale is a showcase for environmentally friendly systems: ground source heat pump linked to under floor heating, wood burning stove,(with some firewood provided). solar hot water, solar PV electricity, grey water system from our mountain spring for flushing toilets, external sockets for charging electric vehicles.  All these features allow you to enjoy four star luxury while minimising your impact on the environment.

Road Directions

Directions from Town: From Newcastle follow the signs for Tollymore Forest Park but pass by the entrance and keep following the B180 towards Newry. You will pass through the village of Bryansford and continue towards Newry on the B180 for a further 4 miles then watch out for Moyad Road on your left. Continue along Moyad Road for just over half a mile and Happy Vale is on your left after a farm. From Newry follow the B8 towards Newcastle passing through Mayobridge and then Hilltown. After you leave Hilltown, turn right onto the B27 following the signs for Newcastle. Then after a mile turn left onto the B180, again following the signs for Newcastle. After a further 3 miles, turn right onto Moyad Road. Continue just over half a mile and Happy Vale is on your left after a farm.
