About

The Coastguard Boat House on Belfast Lough is one of a kind - the only boathouse you can sleep in on this Lough. Located less than a metre at high tide, the Boat House is completely self contained so is very safe and with heaps of heritage offers visitors a very unique experience.

A must for sea and dog lovers - or for anyone who craves the sea.

The Boat House has a slipway for visitor’s use with seating so you can watch the sea - with direct access to beach, cycle path and walk. A tidal clock is provided so you catch the low tide and explore the ruin and sea wrecks at the Boat house.

The Boat House offers the best of all worlds. It is completely self contained with car parking and full self catering facilities and offers self check in so it is a very safe place to stay. If you wish to venture out Whiteabbey village is less than 5 mins away with a grocery store, dog & family friendly restaurants and pubs. Village life is quiet, but if you want to see Belfast's attractions then a 10 minute drive, bus or train journey takes you there. There is a train station less than a 5 min walk from the Boat House which takes you into the city centre in less than 5 mins. A bus stop is right outside.

The heritage building has kept much of its historical attributes, including a window dating from the Seventeenth Century, original beams and Boat House rigging. Converted in 2019, with further upgrades in April 2020 and 2021, the Boat House has new mod-cons - new bed and sprung mattress, shower, oven, microwave and retro fridge freezer, wi-fi and TV with DVD player.  Covered outdoor eating area and two windows offering excellent ventiliation and sea breeze.
The Boat house can sleep up to four adults plus a child under 12 in a King sized bed (extra long), and double bed; and sofa bed.

Get your buckets and spades at the ready as the beach right outside the front door!
