General information

Ballycastle Literary Festival

Ballycastle Literary Festival aims to encourage interest and participation in literary works and also raise awareness in Ballycastle and the local area. It is open to everyone within the local community to visitors and tourists alike.

The festival will host authors who specialise in a variety of genres (e.g. novels, crime, poetry, historical , children's, science fiction) and they will discuss their books and writing styles either as a solo presentation, panel discussion or in conversation with an interviewer.

Afterwards there will be an opportunity for audience participation through an answer sessions and recently published authors will be available for book signings.

In an adjacent room there will be a selection of stalls, displays and workshops covering subjects such as writing, publishing, local history, rare books, storytelling and second hand books.

Local primary schools are encouraged to participate by entering a short story competition (max 500 words). The winners will have their entry read out at the festival and be awarded a £10 book token.
