About

Nestled in the Dromara hills in County Down, you will find Beechtree farm - the home of traditionally handcrafted and delicious Abernethy Butter.

Producers Will and Allison Abernethy are passionate about the art of butter making and they use skills that have been passed down through many generations. Locally sourced cream is churned into butter and buttermilk. It is then washed by hand and a simple pinch of salt completes the process, leaving a pure and additive free product. The butter is then lovingly patted into rolls and hand-wrapped.

This labour-intensive process produces a unique creamy flavour and texture that stands head and shoulders above other commercial butter brands. This has been widely recognised by chefs throughout Ireland and the UK. What started as a one-off demonstration for a local agricultural show has evolved into a successful artisan business that now supplies some of the most high profile venues in the UK, including The Fat Duck, Marcus Wareing’s restaurants and Fortnum and Mason.
