Weaving returns to Belfast

13 March 2009 -

People interested in arts from times gone by can see a demonstration on linen weaving in Belfast next weekend.

An expert in the traditional art will be in St. George's Market on March 21st to show how she has brought the skill back to life.

Marion Baur will use a 100-year-old handmade weaving width handloom to demonstrate the intricacies of the work.

Speaking on the event, Ms Baur says: "Weaving linen in the ambience of a beautiful, historic Victorian Market is something I just couldn't reject."

The expert owns the Flax Mill craft shop near Dungiven and will be at the Belfast market between 09:00 and 15:00 GMT.

People travelling to Northern Ireland who enjoy the display can return next year for the Stick and Creative Crafts show, held in Kings Hall.

The ten-year-old event covers all aspects of crafts, from cross stitch and sewing to card making and ribboncraft.ADNFCR-1859-ID-19072746-ADNFCR
