The Ulster Orchestra's 2009/10 programme will give fans of classical music in Northern Ireland a chance to forget the difficult economic climate, it has been suggested.
Announcing the programme launch yesterday, principal conductor Kenneth Montgomery said that this year's schedule offers a wealth of talent and features some of the world's finest musicians.
He added: "We live in financially-challenging times for everyone, including the Ulster Orchestra, but the arts are more essential than ever at such times. Join us this season for some of the world's greatest music and be uplifted by the live experience."
The orchestra went on to say that the highlight of the programme will be the Chopin Festival taking place over two weekends later this year - the dates of which are soon to be announced.
On Friday (May 15th), fans of music in Northern Ireland will be able to see Tony Award-winning opera star Alfie Boe performing at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast.
