Una Reilly, treasurer at the BelfastTitanic Society, has written a letter to the Belfast Telegraph saying the Titanic Signature Project will become an iconic structure in the city and one of the biggest attractions in Northern Ireland.
She states the facility will turn into a world-class maritime experience which she hopes will be the envy of the world and encourage people to travel to the city.
Ms Reilly claims Belfast has much to offer tourists who will enjoy this homage to one of the most iconic ships in living memory as well as an insight into Belfast's history.
"Using the Titanic as a hook to capture the imagination
let us show the world we believe that while what happened to Titanic was a disaster, she was not and we are proud to have built her and thousands of others," she told the news provider.
The scheme is worth more than £100 million and will be constructed on the site where the ship was originally made.
