Refurbishment makes Antrim skyline 'even more attractive'

21 September 2009 -

Antrim's skyline has been improved after one of its most famous and oldest buildings had its roof refurbished.

The lantern feature of Cupola has benefitted from a revamp which has returned one of the key attractions in Northern Ireland to its former glory.

A firm favourite for tourist photographs, the Cupola now looks as resplendent as ever, said Gary Shaw, cultural services manager for the council.

"Work has been ongoing offsite to repair and restore this stunning feature, which dominated the Antrim skyline for almost 200 years. Passersby will also notice a new ball finial and spike on top with an integrated lightning conductor," he explained.

Those visiting Antrim in October can purchase a ticket for the production of Life After Love, a stage show taking place on the 19th at the Dundary Hotel.

It will be presented by City Theatre Dublin, which has become one of the most popular providers of events in Northern Ireland thanks to productions such as Shirley Valentine and The Matchmaker.ADNFCR-1859-ID-19369816-ADNFCR
