Proposed Belfast stadium to stage events in Northern Ireland

A proposed national sports stadium in Belfast has nudged ahead of its competition after been recommended by officials, it has been revealed.
Consultants recently conducted a review of the Ormeau site in the capital city and declared it to be the most ideal location for the construction of the new venue.
Blanchflower Park in the city's east and Windsor Park, which currently holds the honour for national stadium, are also under consideration.
Councillor Bob Stoker, who is chairman of Belfast City Council's parks and leisure committee, says Ormeau Park would be an excellent place to stage major events in Northern Ireland.
Mr Stoker added that the Blanchflower and Windsor sites will also stand a good chance of getting the nod of approval, however.
Joe Lewins, managing director of Ladbrokes Northern Ireland, recently said that sporting events in Northern Ireland are one of a kind, thanks to the diverse mix of activities performed there.
