Priests hit global number ones

15 December 2008 -

Three priests from Northern Ireland have taken the musical world by storm, hitting number one across the world.

Musical trio The Priests have topped online retailer Amazon's sales, following TV appearances in the US.

The group have also seen their self-titled album go to the number one spot in Ireland and Norway, the number three spot in Sweden and fifth in the UK.

Fathers Eugene O'Hagan, Martin O'Hagan and David Delargy, all Roman Catholic clergymen, grew up singing together and have recently released their first official musical offering.

A proportion of all profits from their album, which is now available in 30 countries, will go to charity.

The priests have now returned to their parishes in Northern Ireland to prepare for Christmas.

Songs on the album include O Holy Night, Pie Jesu and Ave Maria, in addition to traditional Northern Irish tracks.

A documentary has been made about the trio, which is set to be aired on December 14th, which explores how they made their album.
