Older travellers are increasingly choosing to stay in luxury hotels in Northern Ireland when visiting the country, an expert suggests.
Paul Green, spokesperson for Saga Holidays, claims that those taking trips abroad in their 50s and 60s often prioritise comfort and luxury when on a break.
Contrasting with those taking gap years or sabbaticals in their younger years, they often prefer to stay in four and five-star hotels in Northern Ireland.
Those at a younger age are more likely to go backpacking and exploring nature in Northern Ireland, he suggests.
Mr Green explains: "It is a combination of being able to afford the time and the cost."
He adds that older travellers often have both the time and money to enjoy a longer break staying in hotels in Northern Ireland.
Earlier this month, the first Premier Inn and Linen House restaurant in Lisburn opened, which could appeal to those visiting the city.
