Northern Ireland 'has much to offer'

20 February 2009 -

Tourism minister Arlene Foster has said Northern Ireland has much to offer tourists looking for an enjoyable holiday.

Ms Foster made the declaration at the annual Northern Ireland Tourist Board Visitor Servicing Conference at the Lough Erne Golf Resort in Enniskillen, where delegates outlined plans to boost tourism to the country.

The Northern Ireland Executive has set a target of attracting 2.5 million visitors to the nation, increasing tourism revenue to £520 million by 2011, something which Ms Foster is achievable.

"We have so much to offer, with vibrant cities, first-class hotels and superb leisure facilities, set in stunning scenery," she stated.

The minister added that one way to increase the number of travellers to the country is to invest in customer care and understand the importance of treating visitors well so they will return in the future.

In other news, Friendship Travel recently claimed that singles looking for an enjoyable weekend break should head to Belfast.
