New Belfast mural displays attractions in Northern Ireland

13 August 2009 -

Belfast has benefitted from a new mural which showcases the many attractions in Northern Ireland's capital city.

It has been fitted on an outdoor wall in the Ardoyne area as part of a joint Arts Council and Belfast City Council initiative and tourists and locals alike can now sample the city's many sights before going to see them for real.

The Lord Mayor of Belfast, councillor Naomi Long, described the project as a symbol of communities moving towards a bright future.

She stated: "The concept of renewal, of change, of respect for cultural identities lies at the heart of the Re-imaging Communities programme, which recognises the importance of creativity in all its manifestations and in all our lives."

Recently, visitors to Belfast had the opportunity to sample some of the finest artwork in the country when Belfast-born art expert Stephen Snoddy gave a demonstration at the Ulster Festival of Art and Design, one of the finest arts events in Northern Ireland.ADNFCR-1859-ID-19310641-ADNFCR
