Moving on Music 'back in Belfast'

9 March 2009 -

The Moving On Music festival is to return to Belfast for it's second year.

Performers at this year's event, which runs from March 25th to 29th, will include guitarist Mike Nielsen, who draws influence from jazz, classical, rock and flamenco, and improvised jazz trio Tom Arthurs, Jasper Hiby and Stuart Ritchie.

Local bands and performers will get a valuable opportunity to participate in From Get In To Get Out, which is a series of stagecraft workshops taught by music industry professionals taking place at the Oh Yeah Music Centre.

This year's programme will also see screenings of Brett Gaylor's RiP: A Remix Manifesto, which explores music copyright issues, and Dub Echoes by Bruno Natal, which examines the dub genre in anticipation of Mad Professor's live show at the Black Box on the evening of Saturday March 28th.

Earlier this week, Ash frontman Tim Wheeler, Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy and solo artist Peter Wilson, who performs under the alias Duke Special, appeared together at Belfast's Ulster Hall, where they shared their songwriting secrets at a question and answer session.
