Mayor's Parade to celebrate city anniversary

Dancers, bands and floats are set to perform as the annual Mayor's Parade rolls through Lisburn on May 9th, it has been revealed.

A fusion of culture will celebrate the 400th anniversary of the city and a Family Fun Day in Wallace Park will follow the parade.

Communities across the city will be represented, with a Laughing Cavalier from the Wallace Trust, the great inventor Harry Ferguson and the Suffragettes all being portrayed by actors in fancy dress.

Chinese dragon dancers and a range of colourful floats will pay tribute to the city's linen industry and those who have helped shape it over the years.

Mayor Ronnie Crawford commented: "The involvement of local individuals, schools and community groups will ensure that Lisburn celebrates the momentous occasion of its 400th anniversary in style."

Until May 23rd, CityFest's programme of events will see performances of contemporary and classical music, open air concerts, family fun days, vintage car displays and historical exhibitions take place throughout Lisburn as part of the 400th anniversary celebrations.ADNFCR-1859-ID-19155078-ADNFCR
