Malin Head is 'a place of beauty'

14 January 2009 -

John Dallat, east Derry's Northern Assembly member, has told the Derry Journal that Malin Head has the potential to, and should be developed into, a sustainable tourist destination.

The politician claims the area is perfect as a place for people planning to travel in Northern Ireland to visit and enjoy a fine example of the country's natural beauty.

He told the news provider that not only will it be a wonderful attraction, it will also benefit the local community by creating jobs.

"Malin Head is, without doubt, the jewel in the crown. It is a place of beauty coupled with peace and tranquillity, where there are vast opportunities to create long-term sustainable jobs in tourism, recreation and leisure," he said.

In other travel news, Peter Campbell, from The Honourable The Irish Society, recently told the Derry Journal that secret tunnels created during the Forgotten Siege of 1649 in the walled city of Derry should be opened for members of the public to enjoy.
