Londonderry to celebrate historic walls in upcoming event

A number of events in Northern Ireland will soon take place in honour of historic Londonderry, also known as Derry.

The city will host a variety of activities in Northern Ireland this Sunday (August 23rd) for Irish Walled Towns Day.

Councillor Paul Fleming, mayor of Derry, said he is "delighted" that the country's heritage is being honoured with a number of events in Northern Ireland.

"Irish Walled Towns Day is a celebration of town walls and is a unique opportunity for us to celebrate our culture and heritage and to provide fun entertainment for families," he explained.

Among the events set to take place in the historic city are bell ringing at St. Columb's Cathedral, craft events and a food market.

Visitors to Londonderry can currently view some of the finest images taken in the city in recent years, as a photography exhibition at the Tower Museum is showcasing the work of Tom Russell.ADNFCR-1859-ID-19319806-ADNFCR
