Lisburn to celebrate historic events in Northern Ireland

Lisburn is to celebrate a key part of its history this weekend with a number of historical events in Northern Ireland.

The city centre will play host to its biggest Historic Quarter Festival, which begins on Saturday (September 12th) and will feature exciting attractions in Northern Ireland including a unique World War II re-enactment in Market Square.

Meanwhile, Bow Street will be hosting a display by War Years Remembered and Living History which will mark 70 years since the start of the conflict.

Allan Ewart, mayor of Lisburn, said it was "great" to see historical events in Northern Ireland taking place to honour an important period in modern history.

"This event provides people with a great reason to come into Lisburn city centre for fun and to find out about the history of the area," he explained.

Recently, Lisburn City Council launched a new online tool designed to help tourists and locals alike to locate the various attractions in Northern Ireland.ADNFCR-1859-ID-19356388-ADNFCR
