Lisburn park 'will promote nature in Northern Ireland'

18 September 2009 -

Lisburn's most famous park is being revamped in a bid to promote some of the beautiful nature in Northern Ireland.

Wallace Park is currently benefitting from a redevelopment which will restore it to its peak and give visitors to the city a haven in which to sample the nature in Northern Ireland and relax in the sun.

The children's playground is currently undergoing a £719,000 facelift and other areas of the attraction such as the tennis courts are soon set to benefit.

Councillor David Archer, chairman of the leisure services committee, said he is "delighted" that the refurbishment work is underway.

He explained that although part of Dean's Walk has had to be closed, the council and contractors anticipate that the works will not have impact on the rest of the park and the result will be a delight for all to see.

Meanwhile, nature lovers will soon be able to sample some of the finest walking tours in Northern Ireland, when National Trails Day takes place on October 4th.ADNFCR-1859-ID-19367190-ADNFCR
