Flashdance premiere 'impresses in Belfast'

Flashdance - the Musical has opened to rave reviews at the Grand Opera House, Belfast.
Starring Bruno Langley from Coronation Street, Bernie Nolan who has performed on The Bill and Brookside and Victoria Hamilton-Barritt in the lead role of Alex, the show opened yesterday (March 17th) and will run for six nights at the venue.
Telling the well-known tale of a welder who dreams of being a dancer, the performance features all the hits from the movie including Maniac, Gloria and What A Feeling.
Writing for the Ulster Star, reviewer Stacey Heaney commented: "The dance sequences were simply stunning. Fast-paced, energetic and skillfully manouvered, the cast showed their talent, performing moves others can only dream about."
Choreographer Arlene Phillips commented that Ms Hamilton-Barritt is the only performer able to sing, act and dance to the standard required for the lead role in the musical.
Prior to taking on the part, the actress played a leading role in Saturday Night Fever in the West End.
