The luxury Fitzwilliam Hotel in Belfast city centre has been designed to be environmentally friendly.

According to Travel Daily News, the establishment has a building management system in place to control all aspects of plant, heating and ventilation systems, while all guest rooms are operated by an electronic key which controls the power supply in-room.

Companies arranging meetings and seminars will have access to video conferencing facilities, allowing them to avoid unnecessary business flights and reduce their carbon footprint

"A green team at the Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast has been appointed to ensure all staff are guided in reduce, recycle and reuse policies and environmental awareness and training is offered to staff as part of the induction programme," the news provider added.

The Fitzwilliam Hotel will open on March 11th and features 130 guestrooms including superior, executive and king rooms, as well as six studio suites and a two-bedroom penthouse overlooking the city.
