Organised by the Northern Ireland Amenity Council (NIAC), the prizes recognise the strides taken by communities to implement projects to improve the environment.

The Most Improved Entry award was given to Dromara for its work and Doreen Muskett, president of the NIAC, told the news provider the local people have made a great effort to better the village.

"Dromara is obviously a place where the residents take pride in the appearance of their locality and it is evident that they work together to achieve these excellent results," she said.

People keen to sample nature in Northern Ireland and enjoy an area which is well maintained can add Dromara to their list of places to visit while in the country.
