Draw the exhibits in Londonderry

21 May 2009 -

Visitors to Northern Ireland this weekend will be able to get involved in art at the Tower Museum in Londonderry, also known as Derry.

This Saturday, National Drawing Day will be held in the venue, giving visitors the chance to create their own versions of the work on display.

Parents and children alike will be able to put pencil to paper and draw the work, while it will also encourage kids to engage with the items in the museum.

Margaret Edwards, education officer at the Tower Museum, said: "Hopefully it will attract people to the museum and get them thinking about the city's history and heritage in a meaningful way."

People can visit the Derry museum between 10:00 and 17:00 BST, pick up their free drawing materials and get crafting.

The Tower Museum was recently honoured with a commendation award at this year's Museum of the Year awards in Dublin for its An Armada Shipwreck La Trinidad Valencera exhibition.
