Culture 'attracts people to Belfast'

16 October 2008 -

Belfast's architecture and culture are the main factors attracting visitors, it has been claimed.

A recent report in India's Economic Times highlights that the city boasts a number of historical attractions, including many related to the Titanic.

The publications states that sights to see include the hole in the Titanic quarter that was designed to fit the hull of the famous ship and the world's largest dry dock, Samson and Goliath which is where the Titanic was built.

It adds that the city is gearing up to a massive celebration in honour of the ill-fated ship's centenary in 2012.

The news provider states that visitors in need of some refreshment could head to one of the city's notable public houses, or to a the famed Merchant Hotel for tea and cakes or some more substantial food.

It concludes by noting that tourists visiting Belfast may also like to take in the sights of nearby Londonderry which is also "steeped in history".

Meanwhile, people visiting Belfast in the upcoming months may wish to take in a concert at the Odyssey arena, which will be hosting performances from Paul Weller, the Killers and Snow Patrol.
