Causeway coast an 'authentic travel destination'

25 November 2008 -

Those planning to travel in Northern Ireland will be pleased to hear the Causeway coast has been named as one of the 50 most authentic destinations in the world for tourists to visit.

Compiled by British Airways' High Life magazine, the coast was listed among places such as Battambang in Cambodia, Damascus in Syria and Rio de Janeiro as offering a truly wonderful experience for holidaymakers to enjoy.

Each location was listed for what it provides visitors and the Causeway Coast offers a stunning example of natural beauty for those planning to travel in Northern Ireland.

"[It is] an unspoilt, taken-for-granted coast where surf is to bask in sumptuous silence, facing towards Scotland's scattering of western-flung islands," the magazine claimed.

Areas of interest on the Causeway coast include Rathlin Island, home to the biggest seabird colony in Northern Ireland, the Giant's Causeway, which is a World Heritage Site, and the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge.
