Carrickfergus to host festive events in Northern Ireland

12 October 2009 -

Visitors to Carrickfergus can get into the Christmas spirit in November, when the region hosts a fair selling festive goods and food in Northern Ireland.

Those in Carrickfergus on Saturday November 28th will be transported 150 years back in time, as the Whitehead Victorian fair transforms the area into a traditional market.

Tourists and locals alike will be able to pick up goods ahead of the festive season, with a wide range of food on sale for people to stock up ahead of Christmas.

In addition, a number of street entertainers will be on hand to keep people amused, performing activities including dancing, juggling, fire-breathing, stilt walking and puppetry.

The event will take place in the Kings and Edward Roads, the Community Centre, the Church of Ireland Hall and the Presbyterian Hall and will be followed by a carol service and firework display.

Meanwhile, events of a very different kind will be taking place in Carrickfergus on October 31st, when the annual Open Cylco Cross sees competitors take part in a gruelling bike race through the area.ADNFCR-1859-ID-19403266-ADNFCR
