Belfast castle to host Christmas tours in Northern Ireland

19 November 2009 -

Visitors to Belfast this festive season will be able to take some special Christmas tours in Northern Ireland, as Belfast Castle is opening its doors.

The historic venue was originally built by the Normans in the 12th century and has been the setting for dozens of historical events in Northern Ireland, including the death of the sixth Earl of Shaftesbury in 1884.

From December 5th to 22nd, the venue will be open for a number of special tours in Northern Ireland, with attendees given an hour-long guided walk around the premises and told about the history of the building.

Guests will also get a hot drink and mince pie at the end or alternatively they could try out some of the fantastic food in Northern Ireland at the castle's restaurant.

Following the tour, tourists may also wish to take a trip to Cave Hill Country Park, which is a short walk from Belfast Castle and has previously been awarded a prestigious Green Flag Award.ADNFCR-1859-ID-19468277-ADNFCR
