An air link which has boosted travel in Northern Ireland is celebrating its first successful year in operation between Dublin and Londonderry, also known as Derry
The Aer Arran Dublin to City of Derry service, which carries thousands of visitors a year en route to sampling the many events in Northern Ireland, was launched in July last year and has proved very popular with tourists.
Andrew Kelly, director of corporate affairs at the airline, said the route is a "very important" for leisure and business travellers.
"We would like to thank all of our passengers over the last year for their support and we look forward to welcoming them, and many new passengers, onto our services in the future," he commented.
Colm Eastwood, chair of the City of Derry Airport Committee, added that the connections provided by the service are "essential" for anyone wanting to sample attractions in Northern Ireland.
In other news, the investment of £500,000 in passenger facilities at Belfast International Airport recently resulted in the opening of a new footbridge at the hub.
