In June 1917, the 36th Ulster Division and the 16th Irish Division took part in the Battle of Messines. It was an historic moment when Irishmen from both north and south fought together side by side for the first time.

Based upon the life experiences of Major Willie Redmond, We Were Brothers is a moving and uplifting piece of theatre that celebrates the brotherhood forged by Irishmen of all traditions who lived and fought through the hell of the Great War.
