There are many historical sites to visit in this town and whatever our interests, whatever the weather, there is always something for you to enjoy in the area. The Saint Patrick Centre situated below Patricius’s reputed burial site has an interactive exhibition and includes an art gallery, craft shop, restaurant, conference facilities, Tourist Information Centre and education programme. The museum occupies the same hill which is crowned by Down Cathedral. The adjacent ancient fort of “dun” gave its name to the town and county of Down. The Downpatrick/Ardglass Railway Station is the perfect place for a family to enjoy an afternoon with a difference. Trains run on selected days throughout the year.
