Cookery Schools & Demonstrations

Cookery Schools & Demonstrations

Perhaps you would like some culinary help preparing an authentic ‘taste’ of Northern Ireland. Why not try hands-on learning at a cookery school or watch a demonstration by our experts? Either way you are guaranteed an entertaining and informative way to discover Northern Irish produce.

There are few settings more inspiring for a cookery school than the estate at Belle Isle in County Fermanagh. Set on a working dairy farm on 470 acres of stunning lakeland, this ultra-smart scool invites local producers as well as top international chefs to teach with its talented resident cook and director, Liz Moore. A wide choice of cookery and wine courses are available.
At Grange Lodge in the heart of Tyrone you can savour Norah Brown’s dinner party style lessons at the bright red Aga in her cosy kitchen. Passionate about traditional farmhouse cuisine, Norah will give you a solid grounding in home cooking, from hearty stews and Colcannon cakes to sugary desserts and fruit preserves.
You can also pick up the traditional artisan skills required to make authentic sausages in evening classes with Fermanagh butcher Pat O’Doherty. Using outdoor-reared pork, fresh herbs, and natural casings, one workshop will teach you to master the basics for delicious, hand-linked Irish sausages.
Alternatively you can follow the well-beaten track to Ditty’s Home Bakery and Coffee Shop, Castledawson, where master baker Robert Ditty holds popular evening classes in bread-making and cake decorating. He now also indulges his love of chocolate with truffle making classes in a specially converted workshop, Shanemullagh.
